Safety
Alec Ogletree
is the top prospect in the
Georgia Top 100
and, according to Scout.com South regional manager Chad Simmons, he has been on top for over a year now.
"He looks like a linebacker and hits like a linebacker, but has great range at safety, he has very good instincts, and he is better against the pass than some may think," says Simmons. "His great range, the angles he takes, and his aggressiveness combined with his size give him a very good chance of contributing as a true freshman on the next level. Ogletree is a special football player."
Though Ogletree is on top, he is receiving some pressure from some big names right behind him like
Garrison Smith
,
Mack Brown
,
JaWuan James
, and Da’Rick Rogers.
"This top five is extremely strong as it is a very deep year in Georgia. All have over 35 offers and all were national recruits. James has committed to Alabama, but the others in the top five remain undecided. From the mid teens on down, it is very close. A lot of talented athletes and linemen in Georgia’s class of 2010, so there is the opportunity this fall for someone to make a real move towards the top."
Andrew Norwell
The state of Ohio is also very strong this year, and the top two players in the
Ohio Top 60
show just how talented the state is right now.
"Two years ago, the Ohio class was very deep and had a lot of talent at the top with guys like Mike Adams and Devier Posey," recalls Scout.com North regional manager Bob Lichtenfels. "This class could turn out to be even better with guys at the top like offensive lineman
Andrew Norwell
(Anderson) and linebacker
Jordan Hicks
(Lakota West)."
Lichtenfels believes that those two have very bright futures ahead of them in college.
"Norwell is the most dominant lineman in the country not named Seantrel Henderson, while Hicks may be the most talented linebacker in the nation when the smoke clears."
Dominique Easley
The
New York Top 10
is filled with big men at the top with defensive tackle
DaQuan Jones
and defensive ends
Dominique Easley
and
Jerome Lewis
on top.
"New York doesn’t get much respect for its football talent, but this year's class is pretty good," said Lichtenfels. "The top three players are all defensive linemen and could play for just about anyone in the country. Dominique Easley (Curtis) is as good a defensive end as anyone I have seen in this class. He reminds me of a thicker version of Maurice Evans."
The
Nebraska Top 5
has a big commitment sitting on top of the list with offensive tackle Husker commitment
Andrew Rodriguez
in the number one position.
